Anxiety Disorders, What is it? Helpful Tips

Anxiety Disorders, What is it? + Helpful Tips

Good evening my crochet queens and kings! I'm glad you stopped by, and welcome to my blog! I focus on helping others achieve success in their craft businesses. But in this post I want to talk about a sensitive topic. Anxiety? What is it? There's also anxiety disorder. Hmmm. As someone who has an anxiety disorder, I can say it is not fun! I have GAD, also known as "Generalized Anxiety Disorder" I will speak on that later on in this post! Some people may think " Oh that will go away, you probably just have the jitters!" Really? I wish it was so simple. At the end of the post you will see a great guide ( Don't worry it's not a whole novel!) Just something to help either people with anxiety, or someone you know who is going through it.

The 6 major types of Anxiety Disorders

Phobias - intense fears of specific things, like animals, objects, or situations.

Generalized Anxiety - this is when someone constantly worries about a range of different topics. ( I have been clinically diagnosed with this " bad boy" for over 20 years!)

Panic disorder- when someone experience panic attacks, and those attacks get in the way of their life in some way.

Social anxiety disorder- (AKA " Social Phobias*)

a constant fear of being judged or evaluated by others. Then what usually follows is intense discomfort interacting with others.

Obsessive compulsive disorder and PTSD - ( this used to be grouped with anxiety Disorders, but now have their own category.)

Separation anxiety disorder- when someone excessively worries about being separated from or losing a caregiver, loved one, etc.

Yet…. With all these types of Disorders there is help! I'm a living witness and please note: You are not alone! I'm on a couple meds, I have a therapist. As a proud African American woman, I am not too proud of asking for help. I was roughly 15 years old when diagnosed. It was so severe, I had to drop out of high school. I would hyper ventilate all the time around people. Does that sound horrible? Maybe then, but now I'm 36, happily married, have my own homestead. I also have 2 degrees, 4 certifications, and 2 small at home businesses.  There is help!

Here are some things that have helped me:

I do bullet journaling. ( Just minimal, not that fancy stuff on Instagram and Pinterest) Nothing wrong with being decorative and fancy, but I just like to keep it basic.

I have a fitness tracker/ reminder watch.

This watch is pretty cool and very affordable at your local Walmart. It has lots of timers, exercises, water intake, sleep monitor, and much more! Not bad for just 20 bucks!

Much love to all of you, and stay blessed.

Sincerely,
